How the new atheist slander campaign backfired

In response to my repeated criticism of the new atheist ideas I consider bigoted, the recent vicious slander campaign  launched by angry new atheists backfired yet again. Even fellow atheists are now pressing Ali Rizvi and Faisal Saeed to back their claims.

It makes me sad when anyone – let alone self-described intellectuals – attacks people in response to their ideas being criticized. It shows how fragile their ideas are. I cannot stress enough: Ideas are not people, and no idea or ideology is above criticism – not even Islam. As such, i always advise new atheists to work on rebutting my arguments, not on inventing newer ad hominems and slander campaigns. These tools have never succeeded. They never will. We in America value our free speech above all.

After Faisal Saeed Al Mutar and Ali Rizvi failed to back their accusations of “public outing” with any evidence, even more liberal atheists (and theists of course) are questioning the duo’s motives and credibility for making the vicious unsubstantiated claims they made against me (not my ideas). Why did they lie, they are asking? Where is the evidence, they wonder?

The only evidence we have is the fact that Faisal Saeed himself “publicly outed” this atheist in question (see below).

The only people defending the duo (despite this lack of any evidence) are a handful of anti-theist new atheists. This is exactly how extremist Mullahs in the Muslim world also operate. They make up false claims, incite, and refuse to provide evidence when pressed. “Just believe what we tell you,” they preach, and lo and behold, the brainwashed followers do as commanded.

From a persecuted community declared “worthy of being killed,” in Pakistan, I am very much familiar with this mindset and tactic.

I fully agree with atheist writer David Gamble when he writes “consistent refusal to cite any evidence at all for a claim completely blows away your credibility … “ Its been over a day and Faisal and Ali’s credibility is hanging by a thread – if at all. The slander campaign that was meant to hurt my credibility is now threatening what is remaining of Faisal and Ali’s.

While the two have been exposed once again as liars and slanderers, I take this slander campaign as an opportunity to teach my readers more on the similarities between new atheist Mullahs and theist Mullahs.

I am sharing some comments of new atheist followers to show how they have blind faith in their own Mullahs. Instead of asking for “empirical evidence” for the claims of these Mullahs, they issue fatwas (even death fatwas) based on the false assertions.

Anyways, short of the explicit death threats to me and my family (which authorities are aware of and have asked me not to publicize), I share a few comments. Do enjoy:

1) Caleb did not ask for evidence. He accused me of murder right away. Who needs evidence or courts? Smh.

2) Debbie said she’d file a report with the Massachusetts Medical Board. I hope she does. It will be great to meet her in person.

3) ***** made a fool of himself too.  **** is a blogger in Pakistan who describes himself as a rational liberal. Nice!

Awaiting his permission to use quote.

4) Yep. No evidence, just follow Mullah Rizvi & issue fatwas left & right.

5) Glad he asked for evidence, but did not wait for it I suppose.

6) **** **** blogs for Dawn once in a while. He is a staunch anti-theist who also agreed there was no need for evidence.

Awaiting his permission to use quote.

7) Ali Rizvi said I outed another atheist publicly. Only thing: There was no public link to go with the story. And I dare him to provide us one. Cant accuse on a public thread and not be held responsible for the accusation.

8) Apparently, I also outed *****. Except that there was no link again and he was “outing” himself on a public thread visible to everyone on a public forum. Smh.

Awaiting his permission to use quote.

9) “If that’s true” Glad some new atheists do think.

10) Jakub thought it was attractive to come to my place with molotov cocktails. At least the police know whom to look for if there is such a show at my place. Thanks Jakub. But instead, how about we meet for coffee some day? Lets chat instead of vandalizing my house.

11) I am a terrorist. Reason: Who cares? Is Mullah Rizvi’s incitement not enough reason. Note this is exactly how Mullahs in counties like Pakistan operate. Incite hate based on falsehood/ disagreement.

12) I hate Malala too? Reason: Mullah Rizvi’s false accusation. Who cares about my extensive pro-Malala activism. Smh. 😛

13) Michael said I accused him of being a TTP member in the past. Again, the only problem was that there was no evidence of this. I did expose the fact that he was not what he claimed to be (law professor at University of Maryland?) and his real name was not Michael but Iftikhar*(or something similar, its been a while) but I blocked him for attacking persecuted communities in Pakistan, and not for him being a TTP member. In that case, I’d have gone to authorities.

14) Yes, it is true because Mullah Rizvi’s accusations need to evidence to back. Says the guy who claims peaceful Ahmadi Muslims are worse than the Taliban. This threat we moderates pose is discussed here:

15) Sana thought I should be banned from all pages. If she meant new atheist pages, good news: I am already banned there. 🙂

16) Now the next part is interesting. 🙂 Screen Shot 2015-01-05 at 6.43.34 PM
17) So while I had not “outed” any atheist in public, what happened next was unbelievable. Faisal Saeed Al Mutar posted a private conversation between me and this atheist in question on this public thread, and “outed” him, putting his life at risk. When I commented:

Faisal deleted the comment after a while, but I did take a screenshot in the meantime. I have blurred and blacked out the identity of this atheist even though  Faisal shared this picture without any censors. I will of course not share the original here, but I wonder what kind of threat this Pakistani atheist might be under after Faisal’s reckless behavior and “public outing.”

And as soon as I contacted authorities after receiving death threats to me and my family, Faisal blocked me.

I asked him repeatedly to take me to court. He refused and chickened out. Meanwhile I have taken action against the explicit threats, as detailed here.

The slander campaign backfired big time. 1) Many atheists (and theists) are pressing Ali and Faisal for evidence of my “public outing,” of which they have none, as Ali admitted on twitter. 2) The only evidence we have of “publicly outing” a Pakistani atheist is that by Faisal Saeed himself. If that deserves banning and slander and abuse, then we know where to direct it.  3) I advise Ali and Faisal to not try so hard to attack us moderate/reformist Muslim people. I invite them, as always, to attack my ideas. If not, their already damaged credibility is at risk of dying away.

Join us liberal atheists and theists who work on shared goals of justice, peace, love and universal freedom of conscience. We will welcome you.
